Not my best card ever...
This week the 'challenge' at Less is More is entitled 'Masculine' and I'm sure Mandi and Chrissie knew just how difficult a challenge this would be.
I have made this card with a stamp from clarity stamps and I'm ashamed to admit it but this is the first ink it has seen. Its coloured in with pro markers in petrol blue, red, ice grey 1, ginger, raw sienna and sandstone.
The one thing I'm not too happy about is that the Neenah card is a more creamy white than the base card. I did try it on a brown base but liked that even less, so this is my best effort. Any suggestions about getting a good white base card to match Neenah card will be gratefully received.

Gina, what a fabulous stamp! Love how you've colored it too! I don't usually use pre-folded base cards, I normally make my on. That way the white matches.
ReplyDeleteSorry Gina have never heard of Neenah card. But I love your stamp and your card. Annette x
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've positioned everything here. The ribbon is perfect with the bird.
ReplyDeleteGood news is you can use that stamp over and over again now - this is a stunning card! Fabulous colors on the pheasant!
ReplyDeleteI love this card. Your ribbon matches the coloring of the pheasant perfectly - carefully planned or just plain serendipity? I see what you mean about the different colors of cardstock, but from the photography it actually makes the stamp image "pop." We can be our own worst critics, so don't worry too much really. P.S. Pheasants remind me of my grandpa who used to hunt and have feather embellishments in the ribbon of hats. Very old school, I know... but so sentimental for me. TFS!
ReplyDeleteI can't give you a tip about matching the card but suggest you could "camouflage" the shade difference with distress inks perhaps
ReplyDeleteLovely card though and that image is just a perfect guy image

Superb stamp and wonderful colouring. I'm afraid I can't help on the card front either as I've never heard of Neenah card either!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely card for a chap!
Thanks for a great submission!

Super masculine card, the ribbon goes great with the pheasant.
ReplyDeleteI love the image - the colouring is great. I don't use neenah card. If you want a good white card for use with promarkers - try the hot rolled card from Rymans - its only £7 a reem in A4 size too so much cheaper than the speciality cardstock sold by craft shops but is PERFECT for colouring with promakers/copics or pencils with blending solutions.
ReplyDelete~I think your card is great. Im not familiar with Neenah card to make any suggestions, Im afraid. All I can suggest is you could actually make a small matt form the base card colour, to tie them in together however, I think this is great as it is
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Gina

That's a great card, love that pheasant, there are so many around where I live. I tend to use linen card for the base card and then cheaper white card for the matts, the colour is slightly different and I sometimes chalk around the edge of the matt so the colour change is less noticeable:O) Viv xx
ReplyDeleteLoving your pheasant card, they are such a silly bird but so gorgeous. Your colouring has brought out his best side...
ReplyDeleteIs neenah card a specific make like Kanban for example? Never heard of it, sorry can't be of help.
I have that pheasant stamp! It is so nice to see your excellent card. I've tried embossing and watercolor with it, also some pens put directly on the stamp. I love your coloring. When I've used it on the watercolor paper, I would say I've had the same "problem" that it's not quite the right color, but no suggestions to fix that.
ReplyDeleteI love the image you have used and the way you have matched it up to the ribbon. I have not heard of Neenah card, I get my card from century paper which is great for stamping and colouring. Tracey x
ReplyDeleteI think this is so well coloured and the ribbon finishes it off beautifully
ReplyDeleteBrill male card, love your positioning. x
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of the ideas. The Neenah card I use is made by crafters companion. Its really good for promarkers as it doesn't bleed. The colour isn't normally a problem when you use it on patterned backgrounds or distress the edges. For 'less is more' though, it has been difficult to find a white card that matches exactly.
ReplyDeleteHappy crafting everyone,
